I don't know a whole lot, but I know they are susceptible to rot, and insect damage.If maintained, they last, but they require "chinking".That is filling the gaps between logs.This is typically too much ladder work for a homeowner.Hiring a contractor is expensive.It usually goes undone, and the house rots.That's my experience in the deep South.
