If you buy insurance on someone else's car under you name, you're leaving yourself wide open for a lot of liability. If the person gets in a accident, it's you who will be held liable since the insurance on that car is in your name. You could end up being sued.
And the driver leaves himself/herself open to some very expensive fines. If he/ she will have no proof of insurance with their name on it. The car could be impounded and they'll get a very expensive ticket.
